Meet The Doctors

Dr Jamie Adams

Dr. Jamie Adams was born in upstate N.Y. but was relocated to Newnan, GA as a teenager. She graduated from East Coweta High School in 1999 and from there, attended GA College and State University, where she graduated with a B.S. degree in chemistry in 2003. She then went on to Graduate School at Clemson University with the intent of pursuing a PhD in medicinal chemistry. While in graduate school, she married her college sweetheart, Brook. They have been happily married for over 15 years and have two beautiful children, Landon, and Logan Olivia (Lola).

Dr. Jamie always knew growing up that she wanted a job where she’d be able to make a difference in people’s lives, so in going to graduate school for medicinal chemistry she thought she was on the right track to do so. But while she was at Clemson, she discovered that, as a nation, we have a really backward view of health and she began researching where health and healing truly come from. In her fourth year of graduate school, she found out she was pregnant and soon realized that she would no longer be able to work in a chemical lab. This was such a blessing in disguise because it gave her the opportunity to discover the truth about health; that it only comes from within, not from putting a bunch of chemicals in our bodies. She immediately applied to Life University and started the Doctor of Chiropractic program when her son was only seven weeks old. She graduated from Life University in December of 2011.

In October of 2013, she opened Covington Family Chiropractic, after spending a year as an associate doctor. Since 2013, she has grown Covington Family Chiropractic to be one of the largest pediatric and prenatal chiropractic offices in the State of Georgia and in the Southeast! Covington Family Chiropractic is a multi award-winning office and Dr. Jamie has been voted best chiropractor in two surrounding counties in 2016, 2018, 2109 and 2020 and was nominated for Small Business of the Year in 2017.

Dr. Jamie is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is trained and certified in the Webster Chiropractic Technique. Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic technique that helps to correct imbalance and dysfunction in the pelvis of pregnant moms to help relieve pain and help the baby to be in the best position for labor and delivery.

Dr. Jamie is also an extension faculty member of Life University. For the past five years,  she has had countless student interns come and finish their last quarters of chiropractic school in her office. Through hosting and mentoring these students, she has come to truly grow a passion for counseling future (especially female) doctors of chiropractic.

Solid Ground Chiropractic was born of two thoughts: service for the previously underserved community in Monroe, GA and the desire to mentor powerful female doctors to rise to their fullest potential. Bringing this vision to life has been an absolute joy.

In her free time, Dr. Jamie enjoys reading, especially anything historical fiction, weightlifting, and traveling.

Dr Maggie Detrick

Dr. Maggie Detrick was born in the small-town of Mason City, IL. She was relocated to Huntsville, AL as a junior in High School. She graduated from Virgil I. Grissom High School in 2011 and from there attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science in 2017.

Dr. Maggie knew from a noticeably early age she wanted a career in helping people on their health journey. After seeing her mother suffer through a traumatic brain injury, fibromyalgia, breast cancer, and taking narcotics for several years to combat the pain, she knew something other than medicine could be the answer. The only relief her mother found was through a holistic healthcare approach, chiropractic being the focal point of her care. This ended up shifting the trajectory of her life. After seeing the positive shift in her mother’s health, Dr. Maggie knew she was called to be a chiropractor.

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she attended Life University in Atlanta, GA and enrolled in their Doctor of Chiropractic program. Here she participated in the ICPA club and was consistently on the Dean’s list and President’s list, graduating magna cum laude in the Fall of 2021. To complete her requirements at Life University, for 6 months she interned at a family practice where she cared for families, the elderly, children, infants, and pregnant women. Here Dr. Maggie further perfected her chiropractic analysis, communication, and problem-solving skills. She focuses on the Diversified Full Spine chiropractic technique, as well as Torque Release Technique.

Dr. Maggie is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is finishing the extensive Certification by the Academy Council of Pediatrics, CACCP. This certification is a comprehensive 48 credit program consisting of 19 courses and 200+ hours of learning. It is designed to expand professional ability in adjusting techniques, evaluation, and assessment of various stages of development: from pregnancy, birth, infancy, and throughout childhood.

She is also trained and certified in the Webster Technique. This technique is a specific chiropractic technique that can help to correct imbalances as well as pelvic dysfunction in pregnant women, resulting in probable relief of pain and helping baby be in the best position for labor and delivery.

In her free time, Dr. Maggie enjoys reading, hiking, biking, dancing, scrapbooking, weightlifting and family time
