Finding The Answers To Sciatica Pain
Hey guys, we want to talk about one of the main reasons that people visit a chiropractor and that’s because of sciatic pain. And, for those of you guys that have struggled with that, you know just how incredibly painful it can be and how it can significantly affect the quality of your life.
What are some symptoms of sciatica? Pain or numbness traveling down your legs to varying distances, sometimes into your feet and toes. In severe cases, it can lead to loss of function.
Typically, when you have that type of situation and you go visit your primary care physician, he’s going to give you only a handful of things to help manage the problem including painkillers and muscle relaxers. They might even recommend injections to help with the pain, but remember, those things are only masking a symptom. They’re not getting to the root cause of why you have that problem. And that’s what’s different about us as chiropractors. We want to figure out why you have that pain, get it corrected and get you back to living your life again.
So, what causes sciatica pain 99% of the time? It’s caused by a misalignment in your spine.
Now, when you think about pain down your legs and pain into your extremities, you don’t necessarily think about the problem originating from your spine, but what happens throughout the course of your life, you’ve experienced traumas.
So, maybe you’ve been in a car accident. Maybe you’ve had a slip or fall. You play a lot of sports. Maybe you’ve had an injury. Maybe you have a very stressful job. Maybe you commute into the city, so you sit for long hours every day. All of those things can greatly impact your spine.
This trauma can cause these small bones (the vertebrae of your spine) to become shifted and misaligned. We call that a subluxation and these subluxations pinch on these spinal nerves. And when we get a pinch of that sciatic nerve, which is a big nerve that’s made up of these three nerves at the bottom, it sends excruciating pain, numbness, and tingling down into the lower extremities.
So, what we can do to help you in this office, is do a thorough and complete examination, which does usually include a full set of x-rays. We want to see where the issue is coming from. We have state-of-the-art NASA certified and engineered technology that also helps us assess the integrity of your spine. Then of course, we provide very specific, gentle, and safe chiropractic adjustments to the bones that need to be realigned. When we do that, it takes pressure off of these nerves, allows your body to heal from the inside out and lets you get back to living life again. Usually without the need for painkillers and those muscle relaxers that you’ve been taking.
Give us a call. We’d love to do a complimentary consultation to see if chiropractic can help you with your sciatica discomfort. We look forward to talking to you soon, have a great day.
